Craig Dean CEO Gerald Group
Mr. Dean is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gerald Group, the oldest and the largest employee-owned metals merchant globally. He joined Gerald in 2007 and prior to becoming Chief Executive Officer in 2013, he served as the Group’s Chief Financial Officer, as well as Chief Operating Officer and Head Trader for five years. Mr. Dean has two decades of experience in the global commodities trading and shipping industries, and extensive knowledge in finance. Having started his career at Deloitte and Touche LLP in Stamford in the United States, in June 2000 Mr. Dean expatriated to Switzerland, where he became Deloitte and Touche’s youngest ever Audit Partner in Geneva in 2005. He formed and led the Trading and Shipping Industry (‘TSI’) for Deloitte Switzerland, which was credited as being the fastest growing service provider in the commodity trading industry.
Mr. Dean is leading Gerald’s growth strategy to include numerous strategic investments and offtake arrangements in Africa and Asia in core business areas, which have given the Group a platform to add value across the global metals supply chain. Mr. Dean was appointed to the Board of Directors of Solar Applied Materials Technology Corporation in Taiwan (SOLAR) in June 2018, and contributes to strategic direction, corporate governance and optimising SOLAR’s precious metals business development strategy. Under his leadership and vision, SL Mining in Sierra Leone has successfully redeveloped the Marampa mine into one of Africa’s highest quality iron ore producers. Gerald’s other investments include, SOREMI Mine in Republic of Congo, a Joint Venture with China National Gold Group, TSXV-listed Alphamin Resources Corporation (DRC), ASX-listed Tiger Resources Limited, (DRC), Eurasian Resources Group (DRC and Zambia) and Tenke Fungurume mine (DRC).
A dual Swiss and American national, Mr. Dean is a United States Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from University of Connecticut (1997). He is a member of the Swiss Chamber of Accountants “Chambre Fiduciaire” and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants.
